Initiatives in Nursing Fund

The Initiatives in Nursing fund supports programming and activities that support the mission, vision, and values of the Moffett & Sanders School of Nursing, which is to prepare caring, competent, and compassionate graduates with a commitment to service, scholarship, lifelong learning and professional practice by providing a quality nursing education in a nurturing Christian environment.

Family Nurse Practitioner Program Excellence Fund

Gifts to the Family Nurse Practitioner Program Excellence Fund support student needs, faculty and/or student travel expenses for those participating in professional conferences and other priorities as determined by the department chair, all while advancing the program's mission.

Jackie H. Davis Nurse Anesthesia Medical Mission Fund

Support nurse anesthesia students’ participation in medical missions’ trips or health care-related service opportunities through a gift to this fund. The scholarship was established upon the retirement of the Department of Nurse Anesthesia’s long-time secretary and “surrogate mom,” Jackie H. Davis.

 Nurse Anesthesia Student Travel Fund

Gifts to the nurse anesthesia student travel fund support lodging, travel and registration for nurse anesthesia students participating in professional anesthesia conferences and seminars or health care-related volunteer opportunities.

Moffett & Sanders School of Nursing

Moffett & Sanders School of Nursing has a rich history in nursing education. Since 1922, the school has been preparing students to deliver quality, patient-centered care. In fall 2016, the Moffett & Sanders School of Nursing relocated to the new College of Health Sciences, a 223,000-square-foot innovative learning environment designed to foster interprofessional collaboration and cutting-edge experiential learning. As we continually enrich our educational experience, we identify opportunities to invest in modern learning spaces that foster educational innovation through the renewal of necessary facilities and classroom spaces. Ida V. Moffett Scholarship

In honor of our school’s namesake, gifts to the Ida V. Moffett Scholarship support outstanding undergraduate and graduate nursing students.

Arlene Nash Hayne Nursing Administration Endowed Award

The Arlene Nash Hayne Nursing Administration Award was established to honor the contributions of retired faculty member Dr. Arlene Nash Hayne. The award is presented to a first year post-master’s DNP student who demonstrates academic excellence, exemplifies the characteristics of a servant leader, participates in professional organizations and is committed to developing academic and civic responsibility.

Funderburg Nurse Anesthesia Scholarship

Established in memory of the late Mr. and Mrs. Lonnie Funderburg, gifts to this fund support outstanding students enrolled in the nurse anesthesia program.

Gretchen S. McDaniel Endowed Scholarship

The Gretchen S. McDaniel Endowed Scholarship was established by family and friends of Dr. McDaniel to honor her commitment and dedication to 色虎视频 and the field of nursing. Scholarships will be awarded to students accepted into the MSN or DNP Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner program at Moffett & Sanders School of Nursing at 色虎视频.

 Jane S. Martin Family Nurse Practitioner Endowed Scholarship

The Jane S. Martin Family Nurse Practitioner Endowed Scholarship at Moffet Sanders School of Nursing supports students who are enrolled in 色虎视频’s family nurse practitioner program. The scholarship was named to honor the contributions of Senior Associate Dean and Professor Dr. Jane S. Martin, who was instrumental in starting the family nurse practitioner program at 色虎视频.

 LeeAnna Grace Cunningham Family Nurse Practitioner Scholarship

Gifts to this fund support nurse practitioner students who demonstrate a commitment to serving and caring for vulnerable populations. The scholarship honors LeeAnna Cunningham and is established to inspire students to serve with compassion and determination.

Nena F. Sanders Doctor of Nursing Practice Scholarship

Outstanding Doctor of Nursing Practice (D.N.P.) students are honored with the distinguished Nena F. Sanders scholarship. Named for Vice Provost and Ralph W. Beeson Dean and Professor Nena F. Sanders, the scholarship was established by the graduates of 色虎视频’s first D.N.P. class in recognition of her commitment to the program.

Birmingham Baptist Hospital School of Nursing Legacy Scholarship

The Birmingham Baptist Hospital School of Nursing Legacy Scholarship was established to honor those who attended the Birmingham Baptist Hospital School of Nursing. The Birmingham Baptist Association acquired Birmingham Baptist Hospital School of Nursing in 1922 with the goal of educating nurses to meet a desperate need for skilled practitioners. The school was renamed the Ida V. Moffett School of Nursing in 1968 and became a part of 色虎视频 in 1973.

Sharron P. Schlosser Nurse Educator Award

The Sharron P. Schlosser Nurse Educator Award was established in honor of retired faculty member, Dr. Sharron Schlosser. The award is given to a graduate student who models professionalism, demonstrates a commitment to lifelong learning, exhibits a spirit of inquiry, and expresses a passion for a career in nursing education. The recipient will also exemplify the values of caring, collegiality, and advocacy as modeled by Dr. Schlosser.

Solid Foundation

Moffett & Sanders School of Nursing Fund

Gifts to this fund support our operating expenses and things such as faculty development, student travel to professional conferences, interprofessional programs and other areas of need determined by the dean.

Nursing Student Emergency Fund

Established by the nursing school’s Advisory Board, this fund supports nursing students who face circumstances that threaten their continued enrollment in the nursing program. It provides short-term assistance for basic life necessities such as food, housing, utilities, books and other supplies necessary to continue their education.
