Kim Sanders-Davey is an associate professor and director of the undergraduate public health program in 色虎视频’s School of Public Health. An innovative educator and collaborative leader, she is known for creating dynamic, interdisciplinary learning environments that emphasize real-world application, professional growth and student success.

With extensive teaching experience at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, Sanders-Davey has taught across a wide range of public health and health administration content areas. Her teaching focuses include public health, policy, leadership, management, strategy, marketing, economics and finance — all within the health care context. At 色虎视频, she has taught in four schools and is widely recognized for her interprofessional and applied approach to teaching, scholarship and service. She previously served as a faculty member at the University of Alabama at Birmingham’s School of Nursing.

Sanders-Davey holds certifications from Quality Matters as both a peer reviewer and an online teaching certificate recipient, reflecting her strong commitment to high-quality, evidence-based online instruction. Her courses are rich in high-impact practices, often featuring guest speakers, collaborative projects and experiential learning. She integrates both campus and community partners into course activities, providing students with meaningful opportunities to connect classroom concepts to real-world issues and stakeholders.

She led 色虎视频’s first public health May Term course in London and regularly incorporates experiences such as the Alabama Health Policy Summit, the Alabama Public Health Workforce Day (hosted by the Alabama Department of Public Health) and the HEAL (Healthcare Ethics and Law) Conference into student learning experiences.

Sanders-Davey also mentors students through a range of research and capstone projects, including health education and promotion initiatives, comparative health system analyses, strategic company evaluations, systematic reviews, health policy analyses and other high-impact, practice-based scholarly projects. These projects are grounded in evidence-based practice, with many leveraging publicly available data sets to explore timely issues such as patient-provider communication, discharge planning, medication literacy, emergency room use, home health care and mental health. Many of these projects have been presented locally and nationally, fostering professional development and scholarly confidence among her students.

In addition to teaching, Sanders-Davey is a contributing author and co-author of several leading textbooks. She co-authored Essentials of Managing Public Health Organizations (Jones & Bartlett), contributed to Novick & Morrow’s Public Health Administration and is a contributing author to Johnson & Stoskopf’s Comparative Health Systems (3rd ed.). She is also co-authoring the 10th edition of Sultz & Young’s Health Care USA, a top-selling health systems text.

She has presented at national conferences including the Association of University Programs in Health Administration, American Public Health Association, Association of Schools and Programs of Public Health, Academy of Marketing Science, American Association of Colleges of Nursing Faculty Development Conference, and the Council for Graduate Education in Administration in Nursing.

Her service to the university is equally distinguished. Sanders-Davey currently chairs the School of Public Health’s Academic Affairs and Curriculum Committee. She has previously served as chair of the School of Public Health’s Faculty Assembly and as a member of 色虎视频’s University Curriculum Committee, where she held roles including secretary and chair. She has also served on numerous strategic, planning and search committees.

At the national level, she serves as a program reviewer for AUPHA, councilor and elected Health Sciences Division councilor for the Council on Undergraduate Research, and has held reviewer and leadership roles with APHA, AUPHA and the Southern Management Association. Her professional memberships include APHA, AUPHA, ACHE, AcademyHealth, Academy of Management, Southern Management Association, American Marketing Association, Academy of Marketing Science, Council on Undergraduate Research and the Alabama Public Health Association.

Outside the classroom, Sanders-Davey is passionate about living a vibrant, balanced life. She enjoys Peloton workouts, exploring new travel destinations and cheering on her daughter, who has held state and national pageant titles.
