Preparing graduates to become credentialed nutrition professionals

色虎视频's Fast-track Master of Science in Nutrition with a concentration in dietetics offers a streamlined path for students seeking to become Registered Dietitian Nutritionists (RDNs). Through this program, undergraduate students can complete both their bachelor’s degree and Master of Science in Nutrition in just five years of study.

The first three years of the fast-track program focus on completing all required undergraduate coursework. Students begin graduate-level courses during their senior year and transition fully into the MS in Nutrition program upon graduation. Participation in the fast-track program requires careful academic planning and approval from both the Director of Graduate and Undergraduate Student Services and the director of the graduate program.

Application Process

Step One: Submit an Interest Form

If you are interested in pursuing this fast-track option, we ask that you submit an and contact akustos@samford.edu to set up an appointment to meet with our admission staff. It is important that you fill out the interest form as soon as possible, so that we can help you stay on track with the courses you'll need in order to participate in the fast-track program.

Step Two: Complete an Approval Form

During your junior year, you will be required to fill out the Application Form to request permission to enroll in the Master of Science in Nutrition, Dietetics Concentration courses during your senior year. The application deadline is January 15. 

Admission Requirements

 Students must first be admitted to 色虎视频. To apply, go to samford.edu/admission. Students must then meet the following requirements:

Entering Requirements

  • Submit an Application Form with resume and personal statement 
  • Maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA throughout all course work
  • Must complete the following prerequisite courses with a grade of C or better:
  • Statistics or Business Math
    • Psychology or Sociology
    • General Chemistry, including a lab component
    • Organic Chemistry, including a lab component
    • Biochemistry, no lab required
    • NUTR 412: Quantity Food Production and Management or Microbiology, no lab required
    • Anatomy & Physiology, no lab required
    • NUTR 220: Nutrition Science for Health Professions or NUTR 500: Principles of Human Nutrition – must earn a grade of B or better.
  • Complete all convocation credit by the end of their junior year

Progression Requirements

  • Must earn B’s or better in all nutrition courses to be admitted into the graduate program
